KUHN’s range of mechanical weeding tools expands!

The STARLINER rotary hoe arrives at KUHN.

KUHN is celebrating the first anniversary of its range of mechanical weeding tools, which began with the introduction of the ROWLINER row-crop cultivator and the TINELINER tine weeder. To mark this occasion, the range welcomes a new tool: the STARLINER rotary hoe, designed to offer optimal performance while respecting sustainable agricultural practices.

Braking up crusts without effort

The STARLINER rotary hoe is a mechanical weeding tool that uproots young weeds present in crops. Equipped with rotating stars, it eliminates crusts and crumbles the earth, thus improving aeration and mineralization of the soil. Suitable for winter and spring crops such as cereals, corn and soybeans, the STARLINER rotary hoe is also ideal for direct-seeded or no-till crops. Its stars, pre-tensioned by torsion springs, allow working speeds of 12 to 25 kph, ensuring high work output.

Effective weeding

Individually suspended rotating stars are designed to provide durability and optimal work results. Each star operates autonomously, which improves the quality of work. Heavy-duty brackets withstand extreme loads, ensuring a long service life. With a spacing of 10 cm between the stars and 1.8 cm wide spoons, they ensure the surface is fully worked, effectively eliminating weeds.

Spoon-shaped star ends

The wear-resistant, spoon-shaped ends of the stars break and crumble slaking crusts. They can be easily replaced individually in case of wear. Their rear-facing design lifts the first centimetres of soil and uproots weeds, which fall gently to the ground, encouraging their drying and limiting any risk of regrowth.

Optimising performances

For optimal performance, the rotating stars exert a constant pressure thanks to torsion springs, ensuring effective tracking even in very encrusted soils. The aggressiveness of the STARLINER rotary hoe depends on the height adjustment of the gauge wheels and the ground speed: the higher the speed, the more aggressive the tool.

Pre-series of the STARLINER rotary hoe will be available in several countries for the 2025 season, providing farmers with an efficient and sustainable solution for crop weeding.
