Tried and tested torque

The ARTEC F40 EVO sprayer engine is a product of VOLVO PENTA expertise and complies with Stage V standards. It has a displacement of 7.7 L and power ratings of 218, 252 or 280 hp. Assisted by the exhaust brake system, it provides load retention for greater safety and peace of mind on slopes and during road travel.

Complementing the engine, the hydromechanical transmission combines the power of a 100% mechanical system with the flexibility of hydraulics. Moreover, its low power requirement ensures maximum efficiency, while the differential locks enable you to handle steep slopes and challenging conditions with no trouble at all! Operation couldn't be simpler, with two speed ranges: 0 to 25 kph and 0 to 40 kph (depending on country legislation).

Paired with our D.A.S (Drive Automotive System) automatic engine speed control, you'll achieve substantial fuel savings both on the road and in the field.

Perfect load distribution

The only factor that affects the load of the ARTEC F40 EVO is the tank fill level. The tank is located at the centre of the machine to keep the sprayer perfectly balanced. The positioning of the boom at the front counterbalances the weight of the engine at the rear, so that each axle carries 50% of the total weight.

This balanced weight distribution maximizes the utilization of the transmission's capacities. As a result, the ARTEC F40 EVO maintains exceptional performance and grip in all conditions.

An innovative water circuit

The ARTEC F40 EVO self-propelled sprayer is equipped with a water circuit that combines performance and savings, for simple filling, spraying and rinsing using two pumps.

Filling is fast, thanks to the circuit design and a self-priming 1100 L/min centrifugal pump (at 3 bars) (1) specifically design for filling and rinsing operations. It fills at an engine speed of 1100 rpm for greater savings and convenience. You can increase or decrease the pump speed according to your needs.

Thanks to a second centrifugal pump (780 L/min at 3 bars) (2), the ARTEC F40 EVO self-propelled sprayer maximizes its potential. This pump is used for spraying, mixing and circulating the solution in the booms. With its exceptional performance, you can go as fast as you like, even when spraying large volumes and/or at high speed.

Two spray circuit options are available:
  • Circulation with pneumatic section closure (up to 15 sections)
  • AUTOSPRAY circulation (nozzle by nozzle)

Extra-wide booms

ARTEC F40 EVO self-propelled machines can be fitted with aluminium booms from 28 to 50 m long, to cover an optimum area in a single pass and ensure high outputs. Aluminium booms are a durable, lightweight solution that’s naturally corrosion-resistant.

Two types of booms are available:
  • The 28 to 45 m RX boom.
  • The 48 to 50 m FALCON boom.

We offer six base options for the inner wing, from 17 to 27 m, to suit every width. Work with just the inner arms extended in small fields, and extend the outer arms in larger fields. A hydraulic safety device is also installed on the outer arms wider than 36 m for added safety.

Spraying quality

Continuous variation

During spraying operations, controlling droplet size is a key factor in accurately applying products. Achieving higher outputs means driving faster, which is not always consistent with maintaining good spray quality. What's more, the weather conditions can change while you're spraying. In order to maintain excellent spray quality, Kuhn introduces the AUTOSPRAY spraying system.

The PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) technology controls droplet size. Nozzle opening time is varied by micro-pulsation to maintain a constant pressure, regardless of the dose to be sprayed. By maintaining a consistent droplet size regardless of speed, the AUTOSPRAY system makes it possible to work at different speeds with no loss of precision.

Precision may also be affected when turning the sprayer, since the booms may cover a larger area on the outside compared to the inside. The AUTOSPRAY system can compensate for this issue with the PWM technology, which controls how long the nozzles on the inside and outside of the boom are open. By controlling the dose and the droplet size, all systems work together to achieve precision spraying.

A naturally stable boom...

A stable boom, close to its target, ensures precision spraying. Thanks to the EQUILIBRA suspension frame on the ARTEC F40 EVO self-propelled sprayer, the boom stays perfectly parallel to the chassis in all conditions!

• The frame combines a pendulum system and a link system to absorb the boom's rotational movements and sideways shifts. It provides incomparable stability on bends and slopes.

• The double-cylinder anti-sway system reduces the effects of acceleration and braking on the boom, thus limiting stress on the frame. The rotational locking and bronze bushings on the axles also ensure long-lasting performance.

• Finally, a hydraulic tilt control system keeps the boom flat and parallel to the chassis in all conditions.

...that stays in the right position

To complete the action of the EQUILIBRA frame, the position of the boom on the ARTEC F40 EVO self-propelled sprayer is actively adjusted by a ground tracking system using 3 ultrasonic sensors. So, whatever the terrain, this system keeps the boom in the right position, by controlling:

• The parallelogram for height,
• Tilt correction,
• And the variable geometries (positive and negative).

You can drive without worrying about the boom. The technology controls all the hydraulic functions to stay close to the target and ensure optimum spray quality!

Instant spray control

With the new-generation control system, the centrifugal pump controls itself automatically as needed. It has a capacity of 780 L/min (at 3 bars) and is connected to the spray circuit, providing very high capacities in terms of output and application quality.

Direct regulation enables the pump to automatically adjust its speed immediately as needed, in addition to a control valve designed to adapt to even the slightest variations.

Fast and efficient rinsing

With the dual-pump circuit, you can perform all rinsing functions independently from the cab, either manually or automatically. Choose between rinsing with the sprayer stationary (automatic or manual) or select continuous dilution mode to rinse while spraying.

Do you have to stop in the middle of spraying for some reason? You can also rinse just the boom using a special 'boom rinse' mode. With a low dead volume, residue management becomes simple, fast, and effective.

With the "continuous dilution" mode, you can activate the two pumps (spray and rinse) at the same time to rinse the tank and circuit by dilution. You can perform multiple dilution cycles thanks to the 600 L capacity of the rinsing tank.

An optional pump is available to inject a neutralizing agent during the rinsing phases. A molecular neutralizing agent can be added during the rinsing phase to change products with no risk for the next application. This is perfect for farmers who use different products and crops during the season.

Safe, intuitive cab

Featuring a category 4 cab (pressurisation system and active carbon filter), the ARTEC F40 EVO self-propelled sprayer ensures safe, worry-free operation. Particular attention has been paid to cabin comfort with:

• Optimized suspension with two pneumatic bellows at the front of the cab for added comfort. An anti-sway system ensures cab stability. Large bushings at the rear of the cab isolate vibrations.

• A top-of-the-range seat with pneumatic suspension and adjustable lumbar support to keep you comfortable during long workdays. The heated seat is an especially enjoyable feature in cold weather, providing the driver with enhanced comfort.

• Pulse-style transmission management from the intuitive armrest ensures total, precise control of the machine. For further comfort, the armrest can be adjusted to suit individual preferences. The buttons controlling the boom are right at hand to manually fold and unfold the boom when you encounter obstacles in the field.

• Automatic air conditioning.

The access ladder is operated from the cab using a hydraulic cylinder. A structure extending from one side of the hood prevents any contact with the boom and protects the operator when climbing into the cab. Additionally, there is a handwashing station on the platform near the cab entrance, along with a compartment for storing gloves. LED lighting provides illumination so you can safely enter and exit the cab, day and night.

Outstanding handling

To enhance working comfort, the ARTEC F40 EVO is available with automatic four-wheel steering. Once the "working" speed range is activated, all four wheels work with the same steering angle. When spraying starts, only the front wheels steer, to reduce the 'yaw' effect on the booms. The four wheels can still be manually controlled to navigate bends while spraying or to adjust for sloping terrain using the "crab" steering mode.

A patented solution controls the steering mode:
  • When travelling forward, front wheel steering mode is on.
  • When reversing, rear-wheel steering mode is on.
  • At the end of the field, four-wheel steering mode is on.

Easier maintenance

Regular maintenance of your machine prevents premature wear of components, ensuring longer service life and optimum performance. KUHN has designed the ARTEC F40 EVO self-propelled sprayer to simplify all these operations.

• You can fill all tanks (fuel, aqueous urea solution, hydraulic and engine oil), as well as access the machine's components that require servicing (engine, cooling system, etc.) from the platform at the rear of the sprayer.

• The right-hand side of the machine was specifically designed for easy access to the hydraulic and spray filters.

• A blower is available with different connection points on the machine to give you compressed air wherever you need it.

• As an option, a centralized lubrication system performs most of the lubrication (excluding the boom) on this self-propelled machine.

Ergonomic operator's station

You can perform all the necessary operations, such as filling the solution tank, the rinsing tank and incorporating products, all from the operator's station. It has been specially designed to ensure your safety during loading operations, thanks to simple controls and an optimized induction bowl.

• The induction bowl on a hydraulically-assisted parallelogram has a capacity of 25 L. It features stainless-steel graduation for safe and accurate incorporation of products. There is a convenient shelf where you can safely place a bag or jug.

• A single electrohydraulic valve for all possibilities: incorporation, filling, spraying, external discharge and rotary washers. Positions are selected via the control panel: by simply pressing the desired function, the valve rotates and positions itself on that function, effortlessly and with no risk of operator error.

• Overflow is prevented by the automatic shut-off system. A valve on the manhole directs any overflow to the ground without risk to the operator or the machine during manual filling.

• During filling, the operator can pause the process to allow enough time to incorporate the products. Thanks to the dual-pump circuit, incorporation can be done with clean water using the filling pump or via the closed circuit using the sprayer pump.

• Via the control unit, you can control the position of the induction bowl, program the density and volume to be filled, switch off the filling pump at any time, and monitor the volume in the tank.
